Information Website Relaunch and Redesign Using Drupal CMS

Leverhulme Trust

The brief

OWA Digital has worked with Leverhulme Trust since 2006 providing web development and hosting services.

In 2018, we were approached to work in partnership with the Trust’s appointed design agency to relaunch the Leverhulme website and apply a new corporate identity and design, ensuring an optimised performance on both desktop and mobile devices. We also helped to identify areas requiring new content and made recommendations to improve the site information architecture accordingly.

What we did

OWA Digital upgraded Leverhulme Trust’s website in 2014 to harness the flexibility of the Drupal content management system.

In 2018, the Trust commissioned a change in corporate identity, which involved relaunching and upgrading the website. We worked seamlessly alongside the Trust’s appointed creative design agency to ensure the identity was successfully applied across mobile and desktop versions of the website, and helped to identify necessary changes to the site content and information architecture.

I am very happy with the service and support provided by OWA… The site is now very effective on all mobile devices as well as on the desktop, which was a key goal of the upgrade.

About Leverhulme Trust

William Hesketh Lever was born in 1851 and made his fortune manufacturing soap and cleaning products. His company Lever Brothers quickly grew to become a household name, and its products went on to sell around the world. The title ‘Lord Leverhulme’ was conferred upon Lever in 1917 (‘Hulme’ being the maiden name of his wife, Elizabeth).

A committed philanthropist, on his death in 1925, Lord Leverhulme left a share of his company holdings to provide for specific trades charities, and to offer ‘scholarships for… research and education’. The Leverhulme Trust was established to undertake these charitable aims. Shortly afterwards, Lever Brothers merged with Margarine Unie to form Unilever – becoming a major multinational company.

Today, the Trust offers support to researchers and students through a variety of programmes and schemes, including grants, awards, scholarships and fellowships.
